October 10 2013 Košice |
On October 10th, Russian opera stars of Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres took part in a grand gala on stage of the State Philarmonic of Košice. Vasily Ladyuk, Sergey Semishkur, Ekaterina Sergeeva and Oxana Shilova performed the most popular arias from Eugene Onegin, The Barber of Seville, Iolanta, Mermaid, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Marriage of Figaro and Carmen. The cycle of Neapolitan songs in the second part - light, funny, full of joy - was finished with Brindisi from La Traviata.
The opera singers were accompanied by the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Košice led by Alim Shakh, a prominent Russian conductor and artistic director of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory Orchestra.
Košice is the second largest city of Slovakia and it became one of the cultural capitals of the European Union in 2013. The Gala of Russian Opera Stars accelerated the future co-operation between Russian and Slovak music professionals and reinforced cultural links between our countries.
